Intuitive Counseling
How is Intuitive Counseling different from Traditional Counseling?
I have 20 years of experience working as a Clinical Counselor using modalities of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Non-Violent Communication, Authentic Relating, Developmental Psychology, Mindfulness, Therapeutic Visualization, and Meditation. I additionally have training and experience working with clients in the spiritual modalities of Heart Centered Hypnotherapy and Psychic Mediumship.
In Intuitive Counseling I combine all of these modalities into one!

In traditional counseling, the Western Medical model of Mental and Emotional disorders is the basis of treatment. In this model, your mind and emotions are often viewed as dysfunctional or working against you. This model is often tied to Insurance for payment; thus, working in this model, I have had to keep aspects of my skill set separate from my work with clients.

In Intuitive Counseling, I am able to look at and address each person as a Whole Person who is capable of healing mental, emotional, and spiritual blocks without an attached label of dysfunction. Intuitive Counseling also allows me to bring my whole self, in particular the Energy and Spiritual practices, to working with you.
What is the format of an Intuitive Counseling Session?
We will start sessions in quiet breathwork/meditation/grounding to help us both tune into what is alive and wanting your attention for that session, or to guide our work over the course of sessions.

As we sit in this space, I will be tuning into my Intuitive and claire (clairvoyance, clairsentience, claircognizance) perceptions.
Symbols and sensations may emerge from your subconscious into your mind, body, or emotions.
You or I may receive messages, images, thoughts, smells, or physical sensations; and at times, visitations from lost loved ones, ancestors, or guiding spirits.

I will share what I am receiving and check in with your perceptions and experiences.
We may talk with the symbols, sensations, or parts of self that emerge.
We may use tarot/oracle cards for further symbolic work and messaging.

Depending on what emerges, we may stay in that meditative space so you can continue to process what is coming up through therapeutic visualization work where I guide you to interact with a symbol, a memory, a sensation.
Other times, we may spend time in sessions developing greater insight and skills (NVC, Parts work, identifying and shifting negative thought patterns, processing emotional wounds and traumas).

We will close each session in gratitude for what has come up and set goals for future sessions and practices at home.

In this process you will:
-Learn how your physical, emotional, and spiritual systems are communicating with you
-Develop greater ease and trust in hearing and working with your internal guidance system
-Develop practices for tuning in that best work for you
-Learn practical skills to continue moving toward your healing and growth goals
What is the Difference between Intuitive Counseling Sessions vs. Energy Reading Sessions?
One of the main differences is that Energy Reading Sessions are stand-alone sessions.

Some people are looking for guidance in a specific life area they may feel stuck and are seeking clarity to move forward. Areas can include - career, relationships, personal growth, or spiritual growth.
Others are looking to connect with an ancestor for healing, connection, and confirmation in the continuity of life.

Energy Readings are for receiving intuitive information for clarity and are not suited to assist with ongoing trauma or deeper processing of therapeutic issues.
Often the information that comes up in an Energy Reading can lead to scheduling Intuitive Counseling Sessions, however.
How do I decide which session length to choose - 60 or 90 minutes?
It can be beneficial to schedule a 90-minute session when:
-It is your first session and you want an even deeper dive into the Intuitive information that comes through and time for creating a plan for successive Intuitive Counseling sessions.
-It has been a while since your last session, so there may be different goals and energy to come through.
-You may want to come less frequently, so having time for a deeper dive in the times you do come.
-You may just be a person who enjoys having more time to delve deeply into the areas of your life you desire to receive guidance on; especially if you have a lot of questions or multiple areas of life you want to address in sessions.
**Please note that both 60 and 90 minute sessions will provide you with a significant depth of Intuitive guidance and practical feedback.
Therapeutic Book Study Groups
I am excited to expand my group offerings to include the study of various spiritual, cognitive behavioral, and meditation and mindfulness practices. In these groups, we will discuss these topics using books focused on spirituality, psychology, self-help, and fiction with the goal of personal growth. In group, we will review the content of the book/chapter of focus, examine how to apply the items to your life, and have opportunity to discuss personal matters related to the current book of study. Using my therapeutic knowledge and experience, these groups will differ from traditional book clubs in their focused subject matter as well as the emotional container that will be set and maintained.

The format of each group session will be as follows:
In each group, you will need to come prepared having read the current month's chapter or book (this is not a general therapy group open to those not interested in the book of focus).
We will begin each group with a centering meditation, review agreements for emotional safety for group members, discuss the current chapter's main points, have large or small group reflection exercises to practice/explore the concepts, and close with silent reflection and intention setting.
